About the organization

The Spanish Confederation of Schools (CECE) is a non-profit organisation which represents private and subsidised education in Spain. It was founded in 1977, during the restoration of democracy. Its first President was Angel Martinez Fuertes. The current President of CECE is Alfonso Aguiló Pastrana.

CECE it is composed of 19 regional federations and some sectorial institutions.

CECE is an educational organisation with a high representation in Spain. Its main feature is plurality: bringing together both private and subsidised schools, as well as religious and secular ones. Universities, language schools, halls of residence, nursery schools, special education and schools of hairdressing and beauty also form part of CECE. An educational universe providing a service to society.

VALUES, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Plurality, equality, quality. The values that gave birth to CECE are still valid today. They are our reason for existing. We can summarize them in the following principles:

  • To contribute to plurality, equality and quality in education as inherent values of education.
  • To defend the freedom of creation and management of educational centers and institutions, as well as the right of parents to choose the education they wish for their children and the school that responds to their convictions
  • To preserve the legitimate autonomy and pedagogical identity of the organizations and schools members of CECE.
  • To defend the pedagogical, business, economic and labor interests of our associates before the Public Administrations.
  • To represent the confederated entities in the negotiation of agreements and collective labour agreements with the trade unions, representative professional organizations and public administrations.
  • To collaborate with the state, regional and local authorities, as well as with the trade unions, in the management of the educational system.
  • To work for the eradication of poverty, unemployment and social exclusion, to promote the integration of the disabled people and to promote the responsible use of the environment.
  • To promote the entrepreneurial spirit and any other field related to the improvement of youth.
  • To foster solidarity and joint action in the defence of freedom of education, reaching agreements and collaborating with national and international organizations that share CECE’s values and goals.
