Introduction
It’s digital! That’s a phrase we have learnt to meet everywhere – also in education. A lot of effort – both success and failures have been met while trying to find a way to utilize new technological inventions in educational purposes.
A great deal of seminars and training sessions have dealt with issues on IT today, but many events have also discussed the future of using digital inventions in school.
It is time to try to look beyond tomorrow. It is quite obvious that digitalization will overcome also on our field. How will it change schools, especially in the independent education sector? Students and pupils still value learning in groups, with a teacher present. However, how will this change if the techniques will make it possible to produce MOOCs that are even more efficient or other new applications appear for teaching? Will the audience in the classroom vote with their feet?
During our two-day ECNAIS seminar in Madrid, we have an opportunity to discuss the present and create a vision for tomorrow. Is there a way to get ready for changes, still unknown?
As in the previous ECNAIS conference in Istanbul, students are offered an active role also this time. ECNAIS has sent an invitation to member associations in order to bring the voice of the younger generation to our seminar. Giving a versatile perspective on the agenda according to their background in different national educational systems, we are expecting to create a solid base for debate in the Madrid-seminar.
