ECNAIS Student Debate Event 2026
Lisbon, Portugal | 23 - 24 March 2026
The 2nd ECNAIS Student Debate Event “Promoting Democracy and Civic Engagement” was held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 23rd to 24th March 2026. The host of the event was Colégio Valsassina.
This Event has been organized in good cooperation with the Portuguese member of ECNAIS, AEEP – Portuguese Association of Independent Schools.
Students have debated at their schools and at national level and in Lisbon 10 teams from 6 countries (Bulgaria (2 teams), Czechia, Great Britain, Portugal (2 teams + 1 off competitions), Romania, Turkiye (2 teams)) debated during ECNAIS Student Debate Event 2026.
In this Event students debated in 3 rounds and one final. The motions debated were: 1st round of debates - “Schools should have surveillance camaras in all classrooms and recreation areas”; 2nd round of debates - “Nuclear energy is the best solution for Europe`s energy crisis” and 3rd round of debates - “The EU should have an elected President”.
In the final, 2 teams debated the motion “Technology is making us smarter”. The Portuguese team from Colégio Valsassina had the highest score in the final debate.
