The Independent Sector & Diversity in Education: C
Warsaw, Poland | 17 18 November 2011
Supported by the EU with a grant from the Lifelong Learning Programme: Jean Monnet
During the conference we will explore an overview of the different tracks in the policy and the public and academic debate about diversity in education. Different approaches on national, European and also at school level. Together with researchers we will reflect on diversity in education from different concepts and from a variety of daily practices in schools. We will organize a fora of discussion about these two sites of diversity in education: The freedom of education and the freedom of parental choice on the one hand and the social responsibility of schools on the other hand.
We were challenged by the input, collected during the seminar held in The Hague last 29th and 30th of September, to build the conference’s program. The outcome of this seminar is available on the ECNAIS website. We hope that the conference will lead to a patchwork (in the sense of samples of different practices) about diversity in education and the richness of independent sector approaches to diversity, rather than a uniform set of conclusions. We also aim to formulate during the conference new research questions relevant for diversity in daily school life of the independent schools.
